Artist's Description
Original silhouette illustration by artist, Christina Rick, of the crowd at the Woodstock Music & Arts Festival in 1969 - one of the most pivotal events in shaping the 'counter-culture' of the late 60s that revolutionized an entire generation onward in terms of political thought, freedom of expression, love & equality, and promotion of peace & anti-war rhetoric; especially through the arts - and music in particular.
Named 'Teenage Wasteland' in reference to the song 'Baba O'Riley' by The Who, one of the performing acts at Woodstock, which was *speculatively* written in response to the "absolute desolation of teenagers at Woodstock." Naming it this is purely ironic - as is the thought that Woodstock is to be celebrated as encouraging the drug & alcohol-fueled reckless behavior of teenagers. That is not what Woodstock is about, though; rather, it is about coming together and seeking change for a better, freer, more peaceful tomorrow.
